Tonight at 6pm Central here in Austin, Time Warner Cable Channel 10 will be broadcasting my Episode titled “Kook’n for Kidneys”. In this episode I make some very healthy recipes designed for folks in the pre-dialysis stage of Kidney Disease. All of the recipes are very healthy and it’s a fun and tasty romp for all!
A few years back I was working with a lot of folks who had Kidney Disease. They asked me if I would dedicate a show just for them. Therefore, putting on my Grill Cap of Wisdom I researched Kidney Disease and Foods. It was very fascinating. Unfortunately, many of my friends with Kidney disease eat the same thing over and over. However, with a little knowledge it was easy for this old dog to create some new tricks for them. I collaborated heavily with my friend Chef Nancy Belaise who trained and worked in France until her failing health forced her to move back to the states. Unfortunately, shortly after airing this episode for the first time back in San Diego, my friend passed away. It is with her courage and never ending pursuit to help others, even when her own health dictated that she shouldn’t, that I dedicate this episode to her memory, Thanks Chefy!
